A bad exam result can have a great outcome

Were your GCSE results disappointing this year? It can feel like a crushing blow when the grade staring back at you isn't the one you expected.

The first step? Don't panic: you’ve plenty of study options open to you.

  1. Nail down your options

Until the start of term, there will be a teacher in school to speak to about where you go from here. If you don't want to do that, call the Exam Results hotline on 0808 100 8000. Because this happens every year, you are definitely not alone. And there’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of. Listing your options will help you see your different choices clearly.

Better still, find out if you can continue your A level courses alongside subject resits. You’d be amazed what you achieve once all the pressure is off.

  1. Take resits

Although some of the key GCSE specifications have been replaced by new ones, exam boards should enable you to resit your exam in November or summer 2017. Get the latest advice on this from teachers at school.

Even if you choose to resit, many students find it much easier second time round. With just one exam to sit, you’ll have more time to master what you struggled with before.

  1. Change direction

Disappointment can give you the chance to consider other options open to you. Perhaps there is a vocational or training course at college you could take?

Whatever you do, don’t give up. Call our fab tuition team whether you’re in Manchester or Cheshire to discuss how a private, one-to-one tutor can help you stay in sight of your ultimate dream career.
